Panasonic LUMIX GX85 Compact Mirrorless Camera

Panasonic has announced the new LUMIX DMC-GX85, a compact mirrorless interchangeable lens camera (think "DLSM," for mirrorless, not "DSLR").

This is a 4K camera, so you can shoot 4K video (3840 x 2160), and also capture video bursts to extract optimized 4K still photos -- including selecting the focal point after the capture is complete.

The GX85 also significantly improves image quality and stabilization with new technology, including:

- To reduce blurring, the new 5-axis Dual Image Stabilizer combines a front-end 2-axis optical stabilizer in the lens with a 5-axis body stabilizer in the camera, which together permit an estimated 4-step slower shutter speed.

- To enhance image quality, Panasonic has removed the low pass filter on the sensor, improving the fine detail resolving power by approximately 10 percent.

The Panasonic LUMIX GX85 will be available at the end of May in both silver and black for $799.99, which includes a 12-32 kit lens.
