2007 Summary
2010 International CES
The International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) returned to Las Vegas from Thursday January 7 though Sunday January 10, 2010 (www.cesweb.org).
The show is produced by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA, www.ce.org), which reports that CES continues to be the world's largest consumer technology tradeshow, and the largest tradeshow of any kind in North America.
The CEA expected some 110,000 attendees this year, about the same number as last year, although down from the peak of over 140,000 in the previous years -- which seriously packed the facilities and transportation in Vegas.
The exhibition has been consolidated into the Las Vegas Convention Center this year, without using the Sands Expo, with sessions still held in the Hilton and high-performance audio in the Venetian. The number of exhibitors has declined slightly from last year's 2,700 to 2,500, but with an increase to 330 new exhibitors at the event.
UPDATE: The Convention Center was quite crowded as CES opened, and remained busy through the weekend. After the show, the CEA released preliminary registration figures of more than 120,000 attendees, nearly 7,000 more than last year, with more than 5,000 reporters, analysts and bloggers. The more than 2,500 companies exhibiting announced more than 20,000 new products.
As in previous years, the gadget blogs and tech publications were out in force at CES, with teams live blogging the new announcements for hot-off-the-press coverage. I've updated this document with links to these sources and other coverage of the show.
